When Freud stood on the Acropolis in 1904, an absurd question came into his mind - was this city beneath him real? But all visitors to a personality museum are like Freud in Athens and they experience a similar moment of unreality. Did the person whose work we know really live in this house? Whether we find ourselves in the study of Professor Katakouzenos or Professor Freud, our attention shuttles between objects which the previous occupant of the house left behind and our "internal objects" which represent that person for us. Every museum is an Acropolis: it is a place where reality is surrounded by fantasy.
All the best for your opening,
Michael
